The first trip to sub-Saharan Africa as part of the Erasmus+ credit mobility program took place at the turn of January and February 2026 and was undertaken by Vojtěch Šarše from the Centre for African Studies and the Department of Romance Studies, Jan Koura from the Department of History and Radek Buden from the Center for Ibero-American Studies.
At Jimma University in Ethiopia, they led seminars, workshops, and lectures in political science, international relations history, and sub-Saharan literature. They exchanged experiences with local students and teachers in the areas of digitization, inclusion, publishing in prestigious professional journals, and presenting at international conferences. They also put their expertise to use in individual and group consultations on the final theses of PhD candidates at Jimma University.
The visit followed on from existing cooperation with Jimma University and the memorandum of understanding signed last year.
