Dr Ingrid Anderson from Boston University teaches a course at the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at CU FA, entitled “From Spinoza to Ben Gurion: Modern and Contemporary Jewish Philosophy, Theology and Political Thought.” Her research focuses on early Prague Zionism and its involvement in Czech nationalism of the same period.
You may find the automatic resuscitation machine at the reception desk on the ground floor of the building on Jan Palach Square. The machine is capable of restoring the proper functioning of the heart in case of an emergency. Besides the AED, first aid kits are available in CU FA buildings.
The packed programme on the East Coast of the United States included a series of lectures, roundtables, and workshops that strengthened and opened new opportunities for mutual cooperation. A series of meetings at the partner Brown University were held on 14–18 October 2024 by a delegation of members of the College led by Dr Eva Lehečková, Dean of CU FA. The visit took place on the occasion of the renewal and extension of the Cooperation Agreement between Brown University and Charles Unviversity.
On 18 October 2024, Charles University hosted the first-ever national conference of ombudsmen in the Czech Republic. The event aims to provide a platform for dialogue among professionals across different sectors, disciplines, and political orientations. The rich programme of the conference will also feature Ombudsperson from CU FA, Pavla Špondrová.
The traditional sports event will take place on 22 October 2024 in the gym of the Dormitories and Refectories of CU, CU Sports Centre in Hostivař, and at the Jungle climbing wall in Letňany. Classes and laboratory work is cancelled on this day and all CU FA libraries are closed. You can register for individual activities until by October 2024.
The second-year BA student of social work at CU FA took first place in the competition of innovative projects with a positive impact on society. Her video podcast and non-profit organization Zkratky života (Shortcuts of Life) gives voice to socially excluded people and people living in poverty.
The issue features five scholarly articles, written by Michela Bariselli, Kalle Puolakka, Adrian Bruhns and Tilmann Köppe, Šárka Lojdová, and Giacomo Croci, as well as a critical note by Tomáš Hlobil. The journal Estetika: The European Journal of Aesthetics is published by Helsinki University Press in cooperation with the Department of Aesthetics at CU FA.
