Anna Majola Libánská

Anna Majola Libánská (she/her) is a researcher at the Centre for Modern Art and Theory, Masaryk University ( Czechs and the Colonial World: Design and Visual Culture since 1848.) and a PhD candidate at the Department of Latin American Studies at Charles University in Prague. She is also affiliated with the Centre for African Studies at the same university.

Her research focuses on representations of otherness in Czech (pop)culture, visual culture, cultural ties between Sub-Saharan Africa and Czechia/Czechoslovakia, gender, and contemporary reflections on colonialism. Her work draws on feminist and decolonial theories. She has co-edited two publications: Historia oculta – Representación de la mujer en la conquista y colonización del Nuevo mundo (2025) and Hlasy dekoloniálního feminismu (Voices of Decolonial Feminism), an anthology of collaborative translations of decolonial feminist texts into Czech, forthcoming in 2026.

As part of her research and academic activities, she visited Pietermaritzburg (South Africa), Mosi-oa-Tunya (Zambia), Accra and Kumasi (Ghana) and Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire).
